Foreign companies invest directly in fast-growing private Indian businesses to take benefits of cheaper wages and changing business environment of India. The Government of India has amended FDI policy to increase FDI inflow.

According to the HRD ministry, India has 6,214 engineering and technology institutions which are enrolling 2.9 million students.
