The gas-rich country Qatar announced on Wednesday a programme to allow visa-free entry for citizens of 80 countries to encourage air transport and tourism in the mid of a two-month boycott imposed on the Gulf state by its neighbors.
Nationals of 80 countries can enter Qatar visa-free, this was announced by the Qatar foreign ministry of affairs on August 9th. the list of the Countries eligible for this includes India, the USA, the UK, Canada, Australia, Seychelles, New Zealand, and South Africa.
Citizens from dozens of countries in Europe and elsewhere including India, Lebanon, New Zealand, South Africa, and the United States will now receive tourist visas on arrival to Qatar which hosts the soccer World Cup in 2022.
The arrivals from these countries who desire to visit Qatar need to apply for a visa or pay for it. When this is done, they will be issued a monthly-waiver free-of-charge at the port of entry after they present a valid passport with validity at least six months and a confirmed onward/ return ticket.
The waiver will be based on the nationality of the visitor entering the State of Qatar. For example, citizens of some countries will have a waiver validity of 180 days, offering them to stay for maxim 90 days, in the meanwhile waiver of 90 days, out of which they can spend a total of 30 days. Both are multiple-entry waivers.
The visa scheme is blending in a series of measures targeted at preparing Qatar for greater economic independence in a long term. Maximum Efforts are being led by Kuwait to resolve the rift that is ongoing.
Hassan Al Ibrahim, Acting Chairman of Qatar Tourism Authority, presented to the reporters, saying that nationals of 80 countries being eligible for a visa waiver on entry into Qatar, the county is optimizing tourism, open now in the Middle East and added that they are happy to welcome and to avail their hospitality, natural resources, and cultural heritage.

In November 2016, free transit visa was introduced by Qatar, allowing visitors of all countries transiting via Doha international airport for a minimum of five hours to stay in the country for up to four days.
